Who is Edward Gorey?
Edward Gorey is known as a “truly prodigious and original artist.” Gorey’s pen and ink illustrations coupled with his off-beat humor have brought him critical acclaim and an avid following throughout the world. He has produced over 100 works. From his prize-winning theater set and costume designs, to innumerable illustrations in publications such as The New Yorker and The New York Times, Gorey led a remarkable career. And Gorey’s well-known animated credits for the PBS mystery series introduced him to millions of television viewers.
