The end of September marks the beginning of spooky season, especially in Studio City! If you’re planning a visit this fall, make sure to get the most of your stay and take the special Hollywood Forever Cemetery After Dark Tour. More details about the tour and other eerie events happening in Studio City, below.
Hollywood Forever Cemetery After Dark Tour
This fall, Paramount Pictures Studios offers visitors an exclusive After Dark Tour. It’s a 2 ½-hour walking tour, guided by flashlight, through the dark Paramount studio lots and neighboring Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The tour begins at dusk with a champagne toast, before descending into the surrounding darkness. Throughout the night, expect lots of interesting stories and well-kept secrets about some of Hollywood’s most famous, and infamous, departed stars. After Dark Tour passes are $99 per person and include a champagne toast, movie candy and popcorn. Guests 16 years or older are welcome to attend the tour.
More About Hollywood Forever Cemetery
Founded in 1899, the Hollywood Forever Cemetery is the final resting place for hundreds of Hollywood’s greatest stars. The cemetery is also one of the oldest in California and listed on the official National Register of Historic Places. Throughout the cemetery’s 50+ acres, you’ll find notable names like Jerry Siegel (creator of Superman), Mel Blanc (voice of Daffy Duck) and Judy Garland (Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz). Several local companies offer daytime guided tours of the cemetery, providing an overview of the cemetery and its most famous residents.
Other Spooky Happenings in Studio City
The After Dark Tour is of course not the only spooky event happening in Studio City this fall! On select nights from Sept 13 – Nov 3, the nearby Universal Studios transforms into Halloween Horror Nights – a world filled with screams, monsters and more. Visitors have the chance to experience some of the most haunting moments in film and television history through 10 (new this year) spine-chilling mazes. And during select weekends in October and November, the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride also re-opens for business. Located in Griffith Park, this year’s theme is Midnight Falls – a haunted old town filled with creepy town residents and ominous buildings. The Haunted Hayride takes visitors through the town’s darkest and scariest corners. Other attractions within Midnight Falls include a funeral home haunted house, a barn haunted house and haunted trick-or-treat trail.
